Bound by their common interest and love of music, a group of talented men eventually found their niche. The DynaMIX band had its own modest beginnings. It all started in a garage jam session. Among the original session players included were Ferdie Andag (vocals & rhythm guitar), Rick Quilao (bass guitar) and Nestor Azul (lead guitar). This ragtag group went on and performed their first gig at a private party where Nestor tagged along Eymard Ferrer, who eventually became the group's official drummer. What followed were numerous performances around the Greater Vancouver area. While the group made a great effort to play together and managed to provide good entertainment to the delight of audiences of all ages, it was only recently, with the addition of veteran talents Jim Cando (keyboards), Sammy Cheng (lead guitar) and Jojo Quimpo (lead vocals) that the band discovered more of its spark. The band's repertoire appeared to have suddenly expanded to a wider range of sounds, from easy listening to heavy rock. Undoubtedly, the chemistry within the group inspired everyone to play their music with more passion and zest.
With the worldwide interest of the return of one of the world’s greatest rock band, Journey, with its new lead singer Arnel Pineda, the DynaMIX band jumped into the bandwagon and decided to explore the musical evolution of Journey. They started practicing together and unanimously agreed that a Journey Tribute would be the best choice to move forward. With their new lead vocal, Jojo Quimpo, who sounds like Arnel Pineda/Steve Perry, coupled with the band’s veteran talents: Ferdie Andag, Rick Quilao, Nestor Azul, Jim Cando, Sammy Cheng and Eymard Ferrer, the DynaMIX band sounds like the real Journey. DynaMIX captures the thrill of the old and new generations of Journey fans. Still working their full time jobs during the week they are wowing fans of Journey, both young and old, in the Greater Vancouver area. This was a beginning of musical collaboration that eventually made The Dynamix band one of the most sought after band in British Columbia.
